- ★ Plot Diagram – Can your students complete a plot diagram for “The Veldt?”
- ★ Design a Brochure – Students will create a sales brochure or flyer for the HappyLife Home, including features, benefits, testimonials, common issues, troubleshooting, and product warnings.
- ★ Too Much of Anything… – Students take George Hadley’s thoughts to heart and generate four additional examples of when too much of anything becomes a bad thing.
- ★ Analyze the Setting – Students unpack the setting of the HappyLife Home and the setting of the Nursery. Then students consider how the settings impacted the characters, plot, and conflict.
- ★ Rewrite the Scene – The HappyLife Home does it all. George suspects it even has feelings. If that’s the case, invite your students to rewrite a scene from the house’s point of view.
- ★ Compare & Contrast – Watch a film adaptation of “The Veldt” and compare it to the short story.
