Here’s a breakdown of what’s included:

Plot Diagram – Can your students complete a plot diagram for “The Monkey’s Paw?”

Make Three Wishes – Students will make three wishes and consider the consequences of each wish.

Rewrite the Ending – Have students take the story down a different path by tweaking the story.

Research Superstitions – Take the superstition theme a step further and have students research specific superstitions. What does it mean? Where did it originate?

Compare & Contrast – Watch a film adaptation of “The Monkey’s Paw” and compare it to the short story. Add another layer by watching a third version and comparing all three!

Thank You Letter – Sneak in some theme work by asking students to write the short story a thank you letter – thanking it for teaching them a specific lesson.
