The morphemes in Level One were carefully selected and intentionally sequenced based on word frequency in upper elementary texts, cognitive load, balanced exposure to prefixes, roots, and suffixes, and a natural progression across the school year.

► Who is Level One For?
Level 1 was designed with 4th Grade Morphology in mind, but it’s also a strong starting point for any upper elementary or middle school student who’s never had explicit instruction in Greek and Latin roots, prefixes, and suffixes.
If your 5th or 6th graders haven’t been exposed to morphemes before, this level will lay the foundation they need through approachable words, scaffolded routines, and just the right amount of repetition.
