Looking for a scope and sequence for this unit? In my 6th grade classroom, it looks like this:

• Day 1: Elements of Poetry Introduction
• Day 2: Form & Structure
• Day 3-4: Poetic Devices #1: Imagery
• Day 5-6: Poetic Devices #2: Sound Devices
• Day 7-8: Poetic Devices #3: Figurative Language
• Day 9: Voice in Poetry
• Day 10: Themes
• Day 11-12: The TPCASTT Strategy
• Day 13-14: Wrap Up

You can also use a flexible approach and have students rotate through stations after introducing the elements in the beginning! This unit can be easily adapted for various classroom needs.
